APPRENTICES, JOURNEYMEN, & FOREMEN

Continental Plumbing, Inc. believes in people, full benefits, and a living wage. We demand and provide a full upward career path for our employees and apprentices. Almost all of our apprentices go on to become successful foreman at our company (and others). Some have even gone on to become industry leaders, owners of their own companies; in fact, most of our current, largest and most successful competitors are ran by our former employees and apprentices. APPRENTICES

Our goal is to teach and inspire individuals to become craftsmen that will take pride in the trade of plumbing. This is a 4 year program, requiring a minimum of 144  hours of class time per year and on the job training hours. Continental Plumbing, Inc. will be investing approximately $20,000.00 into your plumbing education and asks that you consider apprenticeship a serious commitment. Registered apprentices starting base wage is $21.55/hour for private wage and $25.16/hour for prevailing wage and increases at eight different periods as curriculum, class hours, and on-the-job training are completed. Increases, depending on OTJ hours and class completion, average approximately $3.07/hour every six months for private wage and $4.76/hour every ten months for prevailing wage. Registered apprentices also receive medical, dental, vision, and a chiropractic plan for themselves and their dependents; and a $10,000 life insurance policy. In addition to the above, Continental Plumbing, Inc. provides profit sharing, cafeteria 125 plan, 401k retirement plan, holiday and vacation plan, direct deposit, dedicated employee safety, competitive journeyman wages, and opportunity for advancement.

Apprenticeship Requirements
Continental Plumbing, Inc. and Associated Builders and Contractors are separate entities and becoming a Continental Plumbing, Inc. employee will not automatically put you in the apprenticeship program.  In order to become an apprentice,  you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of high school algebra with a passing grade, a valid California driver's license, and a social security card.  In order to enroll in the apprenticeship program you must complete an application, show proof of the basic requirements, pass the ABC entrance exam, and successfully go through a committee interview  orientation. Apprentice Responsibilities, Duties, & Expectations

Apprentices must follow all company and apprenticeship rules, regulations, and policies; communicate with both ABC and Continental Plumbing, Inc.; purchase approximately $100 in curriculum books once a year, a $60-80 Uniformed Plumbing Code book at the beginning of their 2nd year, and invest approximately $2000 into hand tools over the next four years.  


Things to Consider Before Enrolling
You may be required to drive up to two hours to jobs in the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura.  The ABC school is located in Anaheim Hills and is normally in session one night a week, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. for ten months of the year.  The work is very physical.  Pay raises through the apprenticeship program are based on on-the-job training and class hours.
